Night sky programs in Tecopa

PVT

One weekend a month closest to the full moon, stargazers gather in Tecopa to do a little deep-space viewing.

Tonight and tomorrow night Tecopa Hot Springs Resort hosts "Star Parties" in the dark -- because there is little or no moon and no light interruption. There will be a 14-inch Celestron telescope with bino-viewers and the public is invited to bring their own telescopes as well.

The parties are a way to bring business to Tecopa while having some fun with the family. Beverage coolers are welcome and chairs or blankets are a must.

There is food available at Pastel's Bistro, an old building on the property converted into a restaurant. RV parking, lodging and camping are also available on the property along with the TBAG art gallery featuring the works of Paul Freidin, a meditation labyrinth, private hot mineral baths and a massage therapist.

The outdoor viewing begins at 9 p.m. each evening and ends at midnight.

The next Star Parties are scheduled for Sept. 26 and 27.

Call 860-852-4420 for more information and accommodation reservations.
