Bishop Gorman plays for Legion championship
SHELBY, N.C. -- Nevada champion Las Vegas Bishop Gorman played for the American Legion World Series title here Tuesday night against Pasco, Wash. Gorman, 74-7-1, advanced to the finals by beating Sumter, S.C., 11-9 Sunday night. The Titans, winners of 19 straight games -- including three here -- rallied from an 8-3 deficit to beat Sumter. On Monday, in a game that didn't affect Gorman's appearance in the title game, the Titans ran their World Series record to 4-0 with a 6-1 win against South Richmond, Va. Pasco earned a trip to the finals with an 8-7 conquest of Sumter Monday night Including a 41-3 record the Gorman Gaels compiled enroute to the Nevada high Class 4-A championship, the Las Vegans are 115-10-1 -- a remarkable .920 percentage -- in 2008.
