What about Focus Group?

Ground-breaking for the federal detention center has already been scheduled and no input has been allowed by the citizens.

What happens to our precious, fragile, water aquifer when they drill a well big enough to support the 1,500 inmates and the supporting employees? It seems like our county commissioners are more interested in the money that will be coming in and not in the lives of the citizens they have sworn to oversee.

The thought of 1,700 people, washing their bodies, washing their clothes and drinking our water, is a huge concern. Why, that might not even leave enough water for the planned Focus Group communities.

Slobs

I can't believe how fast people who travel Calvada Boulevard can throw out bottles, post garage sale signs near the fountain and rock down boxes with sale signs posted on them.

As you travel past the wonderful waterfall you continue to see things people have thrown out the window. -- beverage bottles half full, fast food bags, etc.

It really is sickening to see as so much time and effort went into the beautification of this section of town.

We need "don't litter" signs up and fines if people act like an ignoramus.

MRS. JOANN MCCALLS

Thank you

Pahrump Valley High School Key Club is the high school youth organization to the Kiwanis Club. We are made up of students from grades nine to 12.

On behalf of our club, we would like to thank the following persons or groups who helped sponsor us. Our Key Club had a team made up of 10 members who took part in the Relay For Life to help fight cancer.

A big thanks to Linda DeMeo, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Murphy, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Manring, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Marsh, Kaye's Allstate Insurance, Mr. and Mrs. D. Thompson, and of course our sponsoring group, the Kiwanis Club of Pahrump Valley and last but not least, Quiznos for providing us with plenty of food to keep us going. We raised close to $800 for this wonderful event.

The Key Club is proud to be a member of the Kiwanis Club and is looking forward to serving the Pahrump Valley.

REVA BRAUN

PVHS Kiwanis advisor to the Key Club
