Juveniles suspected of burglary

Two juveniles were arrested Tuesday, Aug. 19, for allegedly burglarizing two residences, including one belonging to an elderly couple.

Nye County Sheriff's Office Dep. T. Klenczar was first dispatched to the home of Daphne and Wilbert Jones after they came home to find the back door open and their bedroom ransacked.

Daphne, 81, and Wilbert, 70, also noticed all of their jewelry was missing.

Further investigation revealed two juveniles (suspected to be friends of the couple's grandson) had allegedly stashed the jewelry in various bushes around the area.

All but two rings were recovered.

Further investigation revealed the same two juveniles were suspects in a robbery that occurred the day before during which a Toshiba laptop computer had been taken.

The victim of that theft, Arnie Ackerman, "was happy to get his property back," the sheriff's office reported.

The juveniles were arrested and booked on charges of burglary with a victim over 65 and two counts each of grand larceny.
