RCMS registration

Rosemary Clarke Middle School will hold registration as follows:

Aug. 11-22 -- all grades, 9-1 p.m.

Bring a copy of a birth certificate, immunization records, parent or guardian photo ID, student Social Security card and last report card or transcript if possible.

Nevada law requires incoming 7th and 8th grade students to have Tdap vaccine this year.

Floyd Elementary School registration

Registration for students living in the new Floyd Elementary School zone will be conducted 8-3 p.m. beginning Aug. 18 in the school office, 6181 S. Jane Ave., just off Thousandaire Boulevard.

Bring a birth certificate, immunization records, photo ID of the parent and proof of residency (utility bill, rental agreement, etc.).

J.G. Johnson registration

J.G. Johnson Elementary School will hold registration for new students 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. beginning the week of Monday, Aug. 18.

Bring a copy of the student's birth certificate, up-to-date immunization records (new requirements Hepatitis A and Varicella), verification of address (utility bill), parent or guardian photo ID, student Social Security card and last report card or transcript if possible.

Mt. Charleston Elementary registration

Mt. Charleston Elementary School will hold registration for new students 8-3 p.m. beginning the week of Monday, Aug. 18.

Bring a copy of the student's original birth certificate, up-to-date immunization records (new requirements Hepatitis A and B are state requirements), verification of address (utility bill), parent or guardian photo ID, student Social Security card and last report card or transcript if possible.

In order for your child to start kindergarten, the child(ren) must turn 5 years old by Sept. 30.

Class lists with teacher name and room number will be posted outside the school office after 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22.

Early Childhood and grades 1-5 begins Monday, Aug. 25, and kindergarten begins Thursday, Aug. 28.

Supply lists for all grades K-5 will be available at the local businesses.

PVHS registration

Pahrump Valley High School began registration Monday, Aug. 4.

Enrollment packages may be picked up 8-2 p.m. Monday through Friday.

To expedite the enrollment process, please bring a copy of a birth certificate, Social Security card, immunization records, parent or guardian photo ID, two proofs of residency such as utility bills or a bank statement and last report card or transcript.

Counselors will begin scheduling on Aug. 18, no appointment necessary.

School district needs driver

Nye County School District is looking for volunteer drivers for the six-passenger Even Start van.

Two to three volunteers are needed. A good driving record is essential and previous bus driving experience is a plus.

Drivers are needed 7:30-9 a.m. and noon-1:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

GED classes

Nye County Adult Education is accepting enrollment for those 17 or older and needing a high school diploma or GED.

School district needs tutors

Nye County School District is looking for volunteer one-on-one tutors for adult education to be available 4-7 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

Tutors in all subjects are needed.

Manse summer hours

The offices at Manse Elementary are open 7 a.m.-3 p.m. daily.

Registration for all K-5 students is between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. The office is closed 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. for lunch.

Normal hours resume

The Nye County School District volunteer coordinator's office has resumed normal hours, 8 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday.

Mt. Charleston kindergarten orientation

Mt. Charleston Elementary School will hold a special orientation for "new" parents. A tour of the school along with a question-and-answer session will take place from 9-10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, in the Mt. Charleston multi-purpose room.

Kindergarten students will be pre-assessed Aug. 25- 27. Times are assigned during registration. Kindergarten starts on Thursday, Aug. 28.

Manse ice cream social

Manse Elementary will host an ice cream social and open house evening for parents and students 7 p.m. Aug. 21.

Principal Evangelyn Visser and staff members will meet with new and returning students and parents to tour the campus.

Representatives from organizations such as Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and 4-H will be available for fist time bus riders to get information.

There will also be face painting available.

Freshman orientation

Pahrump Valley High School 9th Grade Academy will be holding freshman orientation beginning at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 21-22 in the 9th Grade Academy gym, corner of Mount Charleston Drive and Calvada Boulevard.

Parents and students may attend on the day which suits them best.

The events will include a brief overview of the academy, schedules and lockers will be distributed and tours of the campus will be available.

Walk-in shot clinics

The Frontier and Rural Public Health clinic will hold walk-in shot clinics 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 25 and Aug. 27 at 250 N. Highway 160, Suite 6.
