Girls Soccer

Coach: Greg Leseberg

The first workout is at 2:30 p.m. Monday on campus.

Season Opener: The Lady Trojans go to Galena High School in Reno for a tournament Aug. 29-30. A total of 48 girls had registered to play soccer this fall.

No. 1 Factoid: Pahrump Valley will play in the Southern 3-A League because of NIAA-CCSD woes. (See McDermott column).

Boys Soccer

Coach: Gene Smith

The Trojans will begin preseason drills at 5 p.m. Monday on campus.

Season Opener: The Trojans will play in the JZ3 Invitational tournament at Las Vegas Bishop Gorman Aug. 29-30. More than 50 boys are expected to be at the first workout.

No. 1 Factoid: The PVHS boys will play in the 4-A Sunset Region Southwest Division, which includes state power Bishop Gorman.

Cross Country

Coach: Andy Andersen

The boys and girls will meet at 4:30 p.m. on campus.

Season Opener: Aug. 30 at the Labor Day Classic, hosted by Palo Verde. Cross country had 25 boys and girls sign up to compete this fall.

No. 1 Factoid: Andersen has enough boys for two teams and leading the girls for the fourth straight year will be McKenzie Dean.

Football

Coach: Leo Verzilli

The Trojans began two-a-day workouts Thursday on campus, starting at 8 a.m. each day until further notice. More than 75 boys were at the first session.

Season Opener: Sept. 5, at home vs. Las Vegas Desert Oasis.

No. 1 Factoid: The Trojans move into Class 4-A football with a new head coach, Leo Verzilli (shown with assistant Joe Clayton).

Volleyball

Coach: Jill Harris

The Lady Trojans' first practice is at 3 p.m. in the PVHS gym.

Season Opener: Aug. 29-30, at the Las Vegas Invitational Tournament. Pairings and times will be announced. More than 30 girls have signed up to play.

No. 1 Factoid: Leading the returnees this fall are senior middle hitter Kristi Daffer (foreground) and libero Ashley Humbert.

Girls Golf

Coach: Julie Floyd

Practice begins Monday morning at Mountain Falls for the Lady Trojans.

Season Opener: Aug. 28 at Mountain Falls against Class 3-A League teams Faith Lutheran, Boulder City, Moapa Valley and Virgin Valley. Only six girls had registered through Wednesday.

No. 1 Factoid: Ashley Keller, fourth from right, is a key returning player for the Lady Trojans, who go into 4-A having won three straight state 3-A titles.
