Corrections Corporation of America (CCA) recently launched a new Web site for its recently announced Nevada Southern Detention Center here.

The CCA Nevada Web site, viewable at www.correctionscorp.com/nevada, is designed to engage the Nye County area community and provide timely, accurate information about the company and its approved $80 million, 1,072-bed facility scheduled to open during late 2009.

The site includes information about the proposed project, expected economic impact, employment opportunities, CCA's 25-year history as the founder and leader of the corrections management industry and other project and company information.

"Our relationship with the residents and businesses in Nye County and the surrounding area is very important to us. We take pride in being a solid community partner, both financially and through our involvement in the community," said Louise Grant, CCA vice president of marketing and communications. "We have already forged some very strong partnerships in the area and look forward to working together for many years to come."

Grant and others are expected in Pahrump Tuesday, Aug. 19, to meet with the Pahrump Alliance Valley Economic Development, or PAVED, group late in the afternoon.

CCA announced the development of the Nevada Southern Detention Center in May and expects to bring more than 230 local jobs for correctional professionals in security, health services, inmate programs, management and administrative services to the county.

The CCA-owned and operated facility is expected to house approximately 1,000 federal inmates and detainees from the U.S. Marshal Service, as well as potential populations from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

Construction is scheduled to begin in fall 2008 and will take approximately 18 months to complete.

CCA is the founder and industry leader of the private corrections management industry, representing the nation's fifth-largest corrections system, behind the federal government and three states.

CCA currently operates 65 facilities, including 42 that are company-owned, with a total design capacity of approximately 81,000 beds in 19 states and the District of Columbia, with more than 17,000 employees who provide comprehensive educational, vocational, therapeutic and addictions treatment programs intended to prepare inmates for successful re-integration with society.
