Car wash

The Pahrump Valley High School Football Boosters Club will hold a car wash Saturday at the Wulfy's parking lot, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The cost is $10 for the car wash and a barbecue.

* Pahrump Valley High School coach Leo Verzilli said football conditioning on the high school field will start at 8 a.m. Monday. Workout dress is casual -- T-shirts, shorts and spiked shoes. Official fall workouts begin Thursday at 8 a.m.

Glow ball golf

Deadline is at noon Aug. 13 for the annual Glow Ball golf tournament. The tournament is a four-person scramble, starting at 5 p.m. Aug. 15 at the Lakeview Executive course.

RCMS football

Players need to get a blank physical form at the RCMS campus for the required medical exam. Forms will be available Monday through Thursday and must be completed by a medical physician.

Signups are at 6 p.m. Aug. 12 at the RCMS gym.

Bring the completed physical form, proof of insurance (insurance can be purchased through the school) and $50 in cash or money order. No checks will be accepted.

First practice is 6 p.m. until 7:45 p.m. Aug. 13 at the RCMS football field. Bring shorts, a T-shirt and black football cleats.

The summer practice schedule is Aug. 13-15 and 18-22 at 6 p.m. There will be a scrimmage game with Moapa Valley Aug. 23. Starting Aug. 25, practice will begin right after school and continue to 5 p.m.

At RCMS

A junior volleyball camp for students grades 6-8 next school year will be held Aug. 25-28 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Rosemary Clarke Middle School gym.

Tryouts for the 2008 Lady Sharks team will be Sept. 2-4, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the gym.

Another camp for seventh and eighth graders may be held this month. Call 727-7737 for information.

At Petrack Park

Anyone interested in playing or forming a team to compete in the Pahrump Valley Softball Association in the fall should contact Ken Causey at 727-6413 or attend a meeting at 7 p.m. Sunday in Room B at the community center.

Leagues will be men's, co-ed and 16-inch mosh ball. The season will run from Sept. 8 through Nov. 17.

Women's League -- The Crew 28-4, Ruff Ryders 20-12, No Drama 12-20, H&M 4-28.

Co-Ed (Session 2) -- Rosie's Rockyard 13-1, Road Kill 12-2, Ruff Ryders 10-4, Pahrump Nugget 8-6, Lawbreakers 5-9, Catch This 5-9, Shockers 3-11, Who's Your Daddy 2-12.

Men's -- Young Guns 23-7, Ruff Ryders 20-10, Average Joes 19-11, Saitta-Trudeau 17-13, Smokin' Dogs 12-18, Dogopoly 11-19, Bud Light Bandits 9-21, Engel Tools 8-22.

*Each Monday and Friday, at 8 a.m., senior softball is being played at Petrack Park. Contact Causey for information.

Legion results

In Nevada State American Legion tournament games played Thursday night at Wilson Stadium in Las Vegas, Sierra Vista faced Green Valley and Bishop Gorman took on Las Vegas.

The tournament resumes tonight at the UNLV campus baseball complex, with games at 5 and 8. The championship game is at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

First-round scores were Las Vegas 20, Centennial 4; Bishop Gorman 10, Silverado 3; Reno 8, Coronado 7 and Sierra Vista 10, Green Valley 8.

Monday, Bishop Gorman defeated Las Vegas 9-8 to move its summer record to 63-7-1, while the Wildcats fell to 22-15.

In an elimination game, Centennial, 23-13, won 4-1 against Silverado, 12-20.

Tuesday, it was Green Valley 9, Coronado 6 and Sierra Vista 13, Reno 1. Wednesday, Las Vegas defeated Centennial 14-9 and Green Valley stopped Reno 16-4.

Sr. Olympics

The 2008 Nevada Senior Olympics will be contested Sept. 23-Oct. 19 in Las Vegas. Opening ceremonies are Sept. 21.

Sports to be contested include tennis, pistol shoot, dance, power life, fitness, volleyball, roller skating, bowling, paddle tennis, cycling, horseshoe pitching, road race, track & field, basketball, swimming, archery, badminton, golf, golf skills, pickleball, racquetball and walk-a-thon.

Minimum age is 45 years old (as of Dec. 31, 2008). Fees are $30 (individual), $10 (out of state), $10 (late entry) and $20 (national qualifying processing fee).

Age-groups are 45-49 (not eligible for National Senior Games), 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84 and 90 and over.

PV volleyball

Open gyms for volleyball each Monday and Wednesday continue at Pahrump Valley High School. The last two open gyms are Monday and Aug. 13 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Practice for the Lady Trojans begins Aug. 18.

Roller hockey

A skills clinic for roller hockey players will be held Monday at the Skate Zone, with sessions at 6 p.m. (5-10-year-olds) and 7 p.m. (10-16). Call 727-4386 for information.

At Amargosa

Free sports physical examinations will be given Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at the Amargosa Clinic for Amargosa students. Sessions are also scheduled Aug. 18-19-20.
