Dan Sprouse will resign from the Pahrump Town Board, he said in a phone interview with the PVT.

Sprouse said his decision was based on his wife being ill and his having to take a second, full-time job in Las Vegas.

"I don't even have time to sleep, so I really believe it's in the community's best interest for me to kind of step back and let someone else fill the position," Sprouse said. "I'm sure there's someone who can do the job more thoroughly than I have been able to in these past few months."

Sprouse had enjoyed being able to serve Pahrump and added that he has done his best when voting to truly represent the community's wishes.

"I truly hope I've served [the community] well," Sprouse said. "For those who voted for me, I have always tried, when making a decision or voting, to think of the community as a whole.

"I believe this town board, in a short time, has made a lot of positive progress," Sprouse added. "I hope the people that get elected or are chosen to take the vacant seats will work to have more forward progress."

The board member specifically thanked those who helped him while he was learning the ropes of being an elected public official.

He especially expressed gratitude for Nye County Commissioner Butch Borasky, Pahrump Town Board Chairman Laurayne Murray and Pahrump Valley Fire Rescue Service Chief Scott Lewis.

And of course, he thanked the people who had voted for him and gave him the opportunity to serve his community.
