Letters to the Editor

Care for your pets

It breaks my heart that people leave their pets out in the heat without shade, maybe not enough water.

Water evaporates, it doesn't last all day. You could at least get them a kid's wading pool they could get in and cool off and have plenty of water. It doesn't take a lot to put up some shade. Don't you have a patio or shade tree they can get to?

The heat is unbearable for pets. A chain link four-by-six-by-six costs about $150. It keeps them safe when they have to be outside, otherwise, they should be inside.

Love your pet and take care of it. They protect you, shouldn't you do the same for them?

If you spent one hour out there yourself without shade and maybe no water, you would understand what I'm trying to tell you.

I want to thank Marlene Johnson for her letter to the editor of May 23.

MARGIE HARTLING

Thanks, Pahrump

We will have 250 stockings finished in a week or so for our seniors.

This is thanks to a few very dedicated volunteers, not a club or a guild -- a few people with caring, helping hands.

We are still working on the gifts to go with these stockings for our home-bound seniors and the nutritious lunch-box treats to fill the stockings.

We know there are companies, groups, clubs and people willing to help.

There are photos and more information at community.weshots.com/user/barbquilts4cancer.

Thanks to everyone,

BARB JOHNSTON

Child endangerment

I've lived in Pahrump for some years and thought I had seen it all, but Friday evening, Aug 1, takes the cake.

What would possess a woman to strap her infant to her chest, get into an illegal, modified, unsafe, pink golf cart, drive down the middle of the road, near dark, on Oakridge Avenue, otherwise known as "Oakridge Speedway?"

The posted speed limit is 35 mph but few people do that, it's up to 55 to 85 mph as the norm.

Is she just stupid, to many yellow yummies, or brain dead from stuffing crap up her nose?

At any rate, someone should take her little baby away from such a woman (notice I didn't use the word mother) because no loving mother would ever consider such an act.

She looked like a terrorist with dynamite strapped to herself, looking for some way to destroy herself and other innocent, law-abiding people.

Her two friends, or maybe her mother and sister who returned later in the pink golf cart, were headed to work at the Ranch. No, you have to be of a higher class, these two must have been streetwalkers as their foul mouths gave them away.

Where was the father? Feet propped up, beer in hand, watching some mindless sport event on a large screen TV, no doubt.

I'm sure the authorities would use the term child endangerment as they handcuff her and take her away to jail and put the sweet baby into a safe haven.

Where does she live? Somewhere in the Thousandaire-Homestead-Oakridge-Vickie Ann-Kellogg area.

Can't be hard to spot an illegal pink golf cart with no top, driving down the middle of the road. If you do, please call the sheriffs office at 911 and report her, as I will be doing the same.

If you are her neighbor, please turn her in, then the death of that sweet baby will not be on your hands.

What has happened to common sense and common decency in our town? You moved here to get away from all the crazies. If you don't like it here, move.

This will stop when each and every person says "I have had enough." Got a cell phone and camera, use them and call the sheriff's department and they will do their job. If not we will vote someone in who will.

Kulkin should apologize to Hollis

Harley Kulkin, I'm somewhat disappointed in you.

You often said that a person should get the facts right before you slander a person.

You should practice what you preach before you run off at the mouth and put your brain in gear.

At the town board meeting on July 22, you stated that someone told you that Gary Hollis sent a letter to the governor, a name, to fill the vacancy on the town board. This is how gossip gets started.

I think you should get the facts right beforehand. I think you owe Gary Hollis and the voters in District 3 an apology.

Some said you don't have the interests of Nye County. You have run for many positions, never been elected. You were on the Pahrump Planning Board and were removed because you had personal motives.

You are running as a Democrat, the only one the party is not supporting. That's bad when your party will not support you.

I heard if you don't get elected this time you will move to another district. They have a name for that, I think they call it "carpetbagger."

Harley, you would stop at nothing to get elected. I hope you don't get angry and kick down another office.

Oh, that's right, this will be your office.
