Gang members arrested

Several gang members were arrested and booked on charges relating to selling drugs and an alleged sexual assault Saturday.

On Friday, Aug. 1, a Nye County Sheriff's Office general assignment detective was dispatched to assist Dep. William Tidmarsh for an alleged sexual assault.

The victim alleged she was sexually assaulted by an African-American called "Cali," whose real name is Shaun Johnson.

The victim reportedly told deputies Johnson sexually assaulted her and threatened her with a gun, according to the sheriff's office press release.

The 27-year-old Johnson is a known member of the Hoover Crips. In addition, Johnson is associated with the local area gang Squad Up.

Squad Up was recently indicted under the RICO act and members were found guilty of murder.

A search warrant was executed at the Karen Court Apartments with the assistance of patrol personnel, the Street Crimes Unit, general assignment detectives and a Narcotics Unit detective.

While officers were executing the search warrant, residents of the apartment "approached deputies with firearms and weapons in their possession," the sheriff's office press release stated.

Kejuan Bloom, 22, one of the subjects, was allegedly found to be in possession of 4.5 grams of cocaine packaged for sale and subsequently arrested.

Bloom also reportedly had a gun in his pocket and is a member of a gang from Lancaster, Calif.

Additional evidence recovered from the apartments included firearms and narcotics, as well as additional gang paraphernalia.

A juvenile was also arrested at the apartment.

Johnson was booked on a charge of sexual assault with a deadly weapon and his bail was set at $50,000.

Bloom was booked on charges of sales of cocaine, possession of a controlled substance (cocaine), trafficking cocaine and carrying a concealed weapon.

His bail has been set at $35,000.

The unnamed juvenile was booked on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, specifically, marijuana.
