Five juveniles have been arrested and booked on charges relating to a string of burglaries that have occurred on the south side of town over the course of the last month.

The suspects include two 17-year-old males, one 15-year old male, a 15-year-old female and a 16-year old female.

They were caught after Nye County Sheriff's Office Dep. Klenczar recognized one of the male suspects from a surveillance video of a break-in at the Quick Save Market, located on Pahrump Valley Boulevard. Klenczar was on patrol at 4:30 a.m. when he saw the suspect riding his bicycle northbound on Homestead Road.

The deputy conducted a bicycle stop and determined the suspect was underage and violating curfew.

When he recognized the alleged thief from the video, Klenczar reportedly "obtained several admissions relating to the burglary," a sheriff's office press release stated.

The juvenile was arrested and taken to the sheriff's office where he was turned over to the Juvenile Probation department and interrogated by Det. David Boruchowitz.

Additional interviews conducted by sheriff's office detectives led the officers to the four other juvenile suspects.

Also, the officers obtained additional information pertaining to several other burglaries that had taken place.

According to the press release, the youths "committed the burglaries as a team, knew about the burglaries before and after the crime occurred, or knowingly participated in the consumption and possession of stolen property."

Much of the stolen property referred to included stolen alcohol and was recovered.

The youths were booked on several counts each of burglary, petit larceny, conspiracy, malicious destruction of private property and possession of stolen property.

All have been turned over to Juvenile Parole and Probation.
