Pahrump Valley's track team closes its regular season at The Meadows Invitational in Las Vegas Saturday, in the final tuneup for the Southern Nevada Class 3-A regionals at Overton Moapa Valley May 9-10.

The Meadows meet begins at 10 a.m. on the Meadows High School campus.

The Trojans got strong performances from Ashley Rencher and Ashley Lindgren in the girls' competition at the Ron Resler Invitational at Boulder City Friday.

Rencher won the shot put with a school-record heave of 42 feet, 1 3/4 inches and the PVHS junior was second in the discus at 123-11.

Rencher is going to the BYU Classic at Provo, Utah, competing in her specialities on Saturday.

Lindgren, a freshman, was sixth in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes in 0:12.8 and 0:26.6, respectively, as well as running the 400 in 0:58.9; she was second to Class 4-A's Las Vegas Bonanza's Shirley Pitts' 0:57.3.

Stephanie Manley was sixth in the long jump (14-10) and tied for third in the triple jump (32 feet).

For Pahrump Valley's boys, Kyle Mills was second in the triple jump at 43-1 and fourth in the long jump at 19-5.

NOTES -- Beatty and Tonopah also competed in the meet, but the Nevada Class A Central Division teams had little success competing against a field dominated by Las Vegas 4-A teams, as well as four squads from the Southern Nevada Class 3-A League.

.. No Hornet or Mucker athlete placed in the top eight in any event ... Both teams, as well as Round Mountain, are expected to compete at The Meadows.
