Beatty's baseball, softball teams in post-season mode

Beatty's baseball team is at Round Mountain today for a play-in game for the Nevada Class A Southern Sub-Regionals, a best-of-three series which starts Friday.

The sub-regional winner advances to the double-elimination Southern regionals, to be played May 8-9-10 at Mountain View Christian School in Las Vegas. The top two teams from the South will go to the state tournament, to be played May 15-16-17 at Wells High School.

Beatty got to the play-in level by sweeping Spring Mountain 15-5 and 11-10 Monday, on the Hornets' field.

Advancing to the Mountain View Christian regionals in both baseball and fast-pitch softball will be the Nos. 1 and 2 teams in the Central and South Divisions. Those teams are determined in the sub-regionals.

In baseball May 8, first-round pairings are No. 1 South vs. No. 2 Central at 1 p.m. and No. 1 Central vs. No. 2 South at 3:30 p.m.

Subsequent games are at 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. May 9, and 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. (if necessary) May 10.

In softball, the pairings are:

*No. 1 South vs. No. 2 Central, 2 p.m., May 8;

*No. 1 Central vs. No. 2 South, 4 p.m., May 8;

*Losers bracket final, noon, May 9;

*Winners bracket final, 2 p.m, May 9;

*Semifinals, 4 p.m., May 9;

*Championship, 10 a.m., May 10; If necessary, Noon, May 10.

Beatty's softball team is at Lake Mead Christian Academy Friday to start a best-of-three sub-regional series.

The Lady Hornets are coming off a 22-9, 13-2 sweep of Central Division rival Indian Springs.
