TALLADEGA, ALA. -- NASCAR Sprint Cup Talladega 500.

Schedule: Saturday, qualifying (Speed Channel, 11:30 a.m.); Sunday, race (FOX, 2 p.m.).

Track: Talladega Superspeedway (tri-oval, 2.66 miles, 33 degrees banking in turns).

Race distance: 500 miles, 188 laps.

Last race: With leader after leader diving for the pits to take on gas in the waning laps of the Subway Fresh Fit 500 at Phoenix International Raceway on April 12, Jimmie Johnson stayed on the track and had just enough fuel to win his first race of the season. Johnson, who led a race-high 120 laps, gave Hendrick Motorsports its first Cup victory of 2008, beating Clint Bowyer to the finish line by 7.002 seconds.

Fast facts: Dale Earnhardt Jr. snapped a 27-race winless streak in the 2006 event. ... Richard Petty had seven straight wins at Richmond from 1970-1973. ... Jeff Gordon, who is eight points outside the top 12, won both races last season at Talladega Superspeedway. He has six wins and 16 top-10 finishes in 30 races on the Alabama track. ... Haas CNC Racing announced last week that Ken Schrader will drive the No. 70 Chevrolet this weekend. Schrader has 45 career starts at Talladega. He won there in 1988 and has 12 top-10 finishes. ... Chevrolet has won 16 of the last 17 Sprint Cup races at Talladega. The only non-Chevrolet to win since 1999 was Dale Jarrett's Ford in the fall race of 2005.

Schedule: Friday, qualifying (Speed Channel, 5 p.m.); Saturday, race (ABC, 3 p.m.).

Track: Talladega Superspeedway (tri-oval, 2.66 miles, 33 degrees banking in turns).

Race distance: 311.22 miles, 117 laps.

Last race: Kyle Busch won his third consecutive race, holding off Marcos Ambrose by less than a second in the Corona Mexico 200. Busch passed Scott Pruett on the 72nd of 80 laps to take the lead. Pruett finished third, followed by Carl Edwards.

Fast facts: Kyle Busch has driven in all eight Cup races, all eight Nationwide events and all four Craftsman Truck Series races. He is second in the Cup standings, third in Nationwide and leading the truck series. Busch will try for four straight wins, which would match Sam Ard's record streak set in 1983. ... Talladega marks the fourth different track in races for the series. ... Only one pole-sitter has won the Nationwide race at Talladega, Joe Nemechek in 1998.

RoadRunner Turbo 300

Site: Kansas City, Kan.

Schedule: Saturday, qualifying, 3:10 p.m.; Sunday, race (ESPN2, 5 p.m.).

Track: Kansas Speedway (D-shaped oval, 1.5 miles, 15 degrees banking in turns).

Race distance: 300 miles, 200 laps.

Last race: Danica Patrick became the first female winner in IndyCar history, taking the Indy Japan 300 after the top contenders were forced to pit for fuel in the final laps. Patrick finished 5.8594 seconds ahead of pole-sitter Helio Castroneves after leader Scott Dixon went in for a pit stop with five laps remaining. In Long Beach, Calif., Will Power won the final race of the Champ Car World Series, the last remaining remnant of the 12-year rivalry between the newly unified American open-wheel series. The race was run with Champ Car teams, drivers and equipment, but the points awarded here were for the IRL's IndyCar Series.

Fast facts: Helio Castroneves, with three top 5 finishers, leads the series with 125 points. Scott Dixon trails by 12 points. ... Patrick's best finish in three races at Kansas Speedway is seventh. ... Power, off his win at Long Beach, leads the rookie standings with 87 points. Enrique Bernoldi trails by 13.

Summit Racing Equipment Southern Nationals

Site: Commerce, Ga.

Schedule: Today, qualifying, 2 p.m.; Saturday, qualifying, 11:30 a.m. (ESPN, 6 p.m., tape); Sunday, eliminations, 11 a.m. (ESPN2, 7 p.m., tape).

Track: Atlanta Dragway.

Last event: Tim Wilkerson raced to his first Funny Car victory since 2004, beating Ashley Force in the SummitRacing.com Nationals at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on April 13. Wilkerson reached 292 mph to finish in 4.96 seconds, while Force was denied in her attempt to become the first female Funny Car winner in finishing at 4.99. Cory McClenathan won in Top Fuel for the first time in 30 races after beating Antron Brown and Jason Line took Pro Stock.
