Nearly a decade after the idea's inception, the Pahrump Arts and Recreation Complex (formerly known as the fairgrounds) finally has plans on paper.

Al Balloqui, chairman of the Pahrump Alliance Valley Economic Development, announced that preliminary plans had been received from Leisure and Recreation Concepts (LARC) at the Pahrump Town Board meeting April 22.

Although Balloqui said some minor changes have to be made, he promised the PARC plans would be available for the town to check out at the Biz Expo May 3 and 4 at the Pahrump Nugget.

As promised, the blueprints show an elaborate plan for fairgrounds that include a dirt racing track, a convention center, a sports complex (with a number of various courts and housing for athletes), walking trails, a theater, and two proposed theme parks.

One theme park will be centered on a Wild West theme and will be a walk-through park.

The second is a water park.

In addition, PARC is slated to include an indoor arena to host Pahrump's many rodeos and equestrian events.

The fairgrounds project was taken over by PAVED after a resolution made the nonprofit corporation the town's official economic development agency.

PAVED then assigned to LARC, whose representatives proposed the theme parks last summer, the details now outlined.

In short, LARC has PAVED the road to the PARC.
