The Pahrump Town Board approved a proclamation officially deeming May 4 through May 11 Youth Week.

Youth Week, meant to celebrate the accomplishments of Pahrump's junior citizens, is sponsored by the Elks Lodge 2796 annually.

This year five Pahrump Valley High School students have been selected to go on a ride-along with a Nye County Sheriff's Office deputy as part of the week's events.

The week will be kicked off a little early with a dinner May 2 at the lodge where awards for the 2007 winners of the Elks Hoops Shoot, Soccer Shoot, and essay contest will be given.
