According to a Reno Gazette-Journal report:

The Golden Eagle Regional Park & Sports Complex is the largest public works project in Sparks history, totaling nearly $30 million.

Also:

* Nearly 500,000 people will visit the park annually.

*The state-of-the-art facility is on a 450-acre parcel east of Wingfield Springs, south of Vista Boulevard.

* The sports complex is operational for softball and Babe Ruth baseball and will be completed by midsummer.

*1.4 million square feet of artificial turf, largest in North America, will be installed at Golden Eagle Regional Park.

* Upon completion, the Sports Complex will cover more than 140 acres east of Wingfield Springs. Another 160 acres will be developed as money becomes available.

* The fully lighted complex will have six softball fields, two Babe Ruth baseball fields, two youth baseball-softball fields, a stadium-size soccer-football field, two multipurpose fields, four volleyball courts and two boccie ball courts.

* Two concession areas, including a 7,200-square-foot concession venue and a maintenance facility, are part of the project. Stadium-size bleachers and parking are included.

* The project will provide an overlook and trails to eventually connect to the regional trail system.

* Sparks-based Q&D Construction is the general contractor and FieldTurf provided the artificial turf for the project.
