Loren Dean Ulrich

Loren Dean Ulrich, 78, passed away April 6, 2008, in Pahrump.

He was born Oct. 22, 1929, in Pickrell, Neb., and was a resident of Pahrump for eight years.

He retired in 1983 and was a member of the Elks Club and the Moose Lodge.

A veteran, he served in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1950.

His wife Jean Ulrich of Pahrump; sister Jean Dinges of Lincoln, Neb. and brothers Darrel Ulrich of Omaha, Neb and Dwayne Ulrich of Dove Canyon, Calif., survive him.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., April 26 at the Moose Lodge.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice. (04/06/2008)

Gilbert "Gil" Everett Andresen

Gilbert "Gil" Everett Andresen passed away April 21, 2008, at his home in Pahrump.

He was born August 8, 1937, in Saint Louis, Mo.

He married Sue Northcutt June 13, 1959, in Albuquerque, N.M.

His wife Sue, daughter Susan (Damien) Aragon and their two sons Adam and Mathew Aragon, of Albuquerque; sons James "Rusty" (Lisa) Andresen of Mancos, Colo., Mark (Rebecca) Andresen and their two daughters Harlie Marie and Riely Sue Andresen, from Pahrump survive him.

Gil moved to Albuquerque after high school, and after his marriage joined the Navy and served on the USS Constellation from 1960-64.

After his proud service to his country he worked in Albuquerque until the family moved to Bayfield, Colo. in 1977, where Gil ran his own electrical business. Gil and Sue later moved to Las Vegas in 1993, where Gil worked as an electrician for many years. They retired in 2005, coming to Pahrump.

Gil's major joy in life was his family and he considered them to be his greatest wealth. Gil never met a stranger. He enjoyed talking with everyone on any subject. He was neither loquacious nor laconic but every conversation had tidbits of unique facts, which kept the listener captivated. Gil was the quintessential husband, father, grandfather and friend.

A private family celebration of life will be held on Friday, April 25, 2008. (04/21/2008)

Harold Leroy Nunn

Harold "Hal" Leroy Nunn 77, passed away April 15, 2008, in Las Vegas.

He was born July 17, 1930, in Mishawaka, Ind. and was a resident of Pahrump for 15 years, having come from San Diego, Calif.

He was employed as a manufacturing supervisor by TRW and he retired in 1992. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was of the Protestant faith.

His wife Geraldine Nunn of Pahrump; son David (Paula) of Nevada, Iowa; daughters Deborah of Wrightwood, Calif. and Karen (Pete) of Clovis, Calif.; stepson James (Linda) of Issaquah, Wash; stepdaughter Michele (Spencer) of Fallbrook, Calif; sisters Helen Marie and Marilyn of South Bend, Ind. and Lois of Salem, Ind.; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren survive him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Services will be private.

Michael P. Crotty

Michael P. Crotty, 64, passed away April 17, 2008, in Las Vegas.

He was born April 19, 1943, in Joliet, Ill., and lived in Pahrump for 21 years, having come from Arizona.

He was a cement mason, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a member of the American Legion and of the Catholic faith.

His wife Carolyn of Pahrump; sons Scott (Beth) of Pahrump, Kevin and Eric, both of California; brothers Frank (Joan) and Billy (Pat), both of Illinois; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren survive him.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen; father, Frank and brother, Ray. (04/17/2008)

Jesse R. Burns

Memorial service for Jesse R. Burns, 84, who passed away March 13, 2008, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, at Grandview Cemetery. (03/13/2008)


Edna McElroy

Edna Looney McElroy, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2008, at Harbor House Hospice in Las Vegas.

She was born in Bellville, Kan. March 13, 1923.

In April, 1944 she married Roland "Fuller" Looney. They were blessed with five daughters.

While raising her family in Beatty, she was involved in many community activities such as PTA, town hall functions (including box socials, singing for weddings, funerals and graduations, etc.).

She was later married to Patrick McElroy and resided in Las Vegas until her death.

Her daughters Sue (Jerry) Pelton of Meridan, Idaho, Karen (Don) Turley and Scheryl (John) Shorter both of Sparks, Iris (Benn) Flores of Las Vegas and Linda Vigil of Elko; brother Harry Griffith of Beatty; 22 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; three nieces and several grand-nieces and -nephews survive her.

Her husbands Fuller Looney and Patrick McElroy preceded her in death.

Viewing will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. April 23, in La Paloma Funeral Chapel. Services will be at noon April 24, at Beatty Community Center.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Diabetes Foundation, the Beatty Museum or the charity of your choice. (04/19/2008)
