PVHS stages plays

The Pahrump Valley High School Drama class will present an evening of short plays at 7 p.m., April 25 - 26, high school auditorium.

Tickets are on sale at Ace Hardware, the Chamber of Commerce and the Pahrump Community Library.

Lions Club scholarships

The Pahrump Valley Lions Club is accepting applications for seniors graduating from Pahrump Valley High School in June.

The deadline to submit applications is May 10.

Inyo County voter registration

Mary Roper, clerk-recorder, registrar announces May 19 is the last day to register to vote in the June 3 statewide direct Primary Election.

New voter registration cards must be complete if:

Your mailing or residence address has changed;

Your name has changed;

Your party affiliation has changed for this election.

Pre-addressed, postage-free voter registration cards are available at all Post Offices, Libraries, the DMV and some county offices. They may also be obtained by phoning the elections department.

The elections department reminds unaffiliated voters they can request a Democratic or Republican ballot from a poll worker when voting, or from the elections department if voting by mail.

Voters registered with the American independent, libertarian, peace and freedom or green parties have no candidates running for office in this election.

Voters registered in these minor parties will receive a non-partisan ballot only.

Alzheimer's support group

The Alzheimer's support group meets the second and fourth Wednesday of the month, UNLV Cooperative Extension Office, 1651 E. Calvada Blvd.

Traveling art show installation

The Pahrump Arts Council is sponsoring the exhibit, Robert Cole Caples: Rooted in Nevada.

The art show will be available April 21 through June 13 at the Nye County Courthouse Complex.

PAC will have an opening reception 1-3 p.m., April 25 at the courthouse. Refreshments will be served.

PAC art for youth classes

Art for Young People, sponsored by the Pahrump Arts Council in conjunction with the Pahrump Valley Museum, is sponsoring free art classes.

The next class will be 11-2 p.m., April 26 at the PV Museum, on Basin Road.

Two classes will be offered, origami boxes and figures and drawing.

All youth must be pre-registered and a parent or guardian must sign the student in and out.

Hoedown at StageStop

The Positively Pahrump family hoedown will be held 12-6 p.m., April 26 in the field next to the Stagestop Casino.

There will be food, drawings and performances by the Suncountry Cloggers, the High Desert Line Dancers, The Pahrump Gunfighters, Dynamic Sound and Midnight Country. There will be face painting for the kids.

PVCAT is organizing the event and would like to thank Cook's Ice, Joe's Sanitation, the Moose Lodge and the many businesses donating gift certificates for the drawings.

Thrift shop closing sale

The Catholic Thrift Shop, 2031 E. Gamebird Road, is closing.

Teen night

The Nye Communities Coalition and St. Martin's in the Desert host a teen night 6-9 p.m., April 25 at Seemoore's Too.

Middle school through high school students are invited for free food, karaoke, and games.

Pahrump Gunfighters

The dust has finally settled at the new location of the Pahrump Gunfighters.

The next performance will be 1 p.m., April 27, "Dusty Flats," 100 Stagecoach Road beside Stagestop Casino.

Performances include safety talks and cowboy poetry.

They are always looking for new faces and talent for the old-time skits and shoot-outs.

Lifeline screening

The Pahrump Community Library will host Lifeline screening for blockage in the carotid arteries in the neck, in the legs for peripheral arterial disease and for aneurysms in the aortic vessel in the abdomen on April 24, 701 East St.

There is a fee.

Revival services

The Church of the Harvest, a non-denominational fellowship, will be holding a "Spring Cleaning Your Soul" revival at 6:30 p.m., April 25 and 26, 1670 W. Vondell St.

Pump up Pahrump

Pump up Pahrump will hold the next event 10 a.m.-noon, April 26 at Honeysuckle Park.

School-aged children from kindergarten through high school are invited to participate.

There will be a fitness challenge, games, prizes, pedometers to the first 50 participants and drawings for prizes including two bikes.

Children need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Model train meeting

The Pahrump Model Train Enthusiasts will meet 9 a.m., April 26 at the United Methodist Church, 1300 E. Highway 372.

All train interests, any gauge, are invited.

There will be a short business meeting followed by by a special guest speaker.

There will also be a swap meet for those wanting to buy or sell. No charge for table space.

Glamour photo shoot

The Cinderella Girl Scholarship Program will have a glamour photo shoot by Enfocus Photography 10 a.m. to 7:15 p.m., May 3, at Seemoore's Too.

Costs must be pre-paid and are $19.95 for a complete session, plus a 10 x 13 portrait for one person. Additional guests are $9.95.

Salvation Army anniversary dinner

The Salvation Army Pahrump Corps will have a 10th anniversary dinner 5:30-8:30 p.m., April 26 in the Parump Nugget Banquet Hall.

Dinner will be buffet style. There will be a silent auction and music by Woody Woods with vocals by Lynn Peterson.

Tickets are $35 per person and $60 per couple.

The Pahrump Valley United Methodist Church will hold a spring/summer rummage sale 8-4 p.m., May 2 and 8-1 p.m., May 3 at the church, 1300 E. Highway 372.

Special church service

The First Southern Baptist Church will present Tuvya Zaretsky, director of the Los Angeles branch of Jews for Jesus. She will talk on Christ in the Passover from Egypt to Calvary and what it means today. The service is 11 a.m., April 27, 741 Fehrs Way.

Butterfly release

The Nathan Adelson Hospice will sponsor the 5th annual Celebration of Life Butterfly Release at 2 p.m., April 27 at Honeysuckle Park.

There will be a short spiritual service by Rev. Julie Platson and Rev. Paul Jordan.

Music will be performed by Susan Zink and Betty Gamble with special guests Melissa and Edwin Monge.
