Crime Report
When crank calls aren't funny There was nothing funny about the crank calls that Michael T. Panzardi, 35, has allegedly made over the course of the last eight months, as he quickly discovered when he was arrested for them Saturday, April 19. According to the Nye County Sheriff's Office, Panzardi was caught after an unidentified woman called the sheriff's office and reported she received a phone call from a male. The man reportedly told the woman he worked at Desert View Regional Medical Center and there was a deadly virus in the air. It should be noted Panzardi does not work at the Desert View Regional Medical Center. He also reportedly said he would be "out to check the residence in the morning," according to the press release. The detectives soon determined the phone call came from the same suspect who had allegedly made about six similar phone calls during the previous eight months. Dispatch put a trace on the phone call and soon officers were knocking on the door of a residence at Five Feathers Avenue. There they had a short interview with Panzardi, who was put under arrest. The threats were fake and at no time were Nye County residents in any danger. Panzardi was arrested and booked on the charge of making threats or conveying false information concerning acts of terrorism, weapons of mass destruction, lethal agent or toxin prohibited. His bail was set at $5,000. Child abuse Jeff Allen Williams, 33, was arrested and booked on several charges relating to child abuse and molestation Thursday, April 17. Nye County Sheriff's Office Dep. Summer Danneker was dispatched to Specialty Medical Center that day for a report of child abuse. The Nye County detectives division was called in to look further into the allegations. Detectives discovered a child under the age of 14 had allegedly been sexually assaulted by Williams, her father. The investigation showed the victim had been molested and told not to speak about what her father had done to her. The minor was reportedly afraid that Williams would physically beat her for speaking with detectives. Detectives went to the Williams' residence on West Gold Dust Lane to meet with him. According to the sheriff's office press release, he "was not cooperative" with his arrest. Williams was booked on charges of sexual assault of a child under 14, incest, sexual abuse of a child, child abuse, and threats of bodily harm. His bail was set at $30,000. |
