Beatty's track team went up against a stacked deck when it competed in the Rotary Invitational Championships at Pahrump Valley High School Friday.

The Hornets were competing against eight teams Class 2-A or bigger, including the touring Australian Select squads. Nye County's other Class A teams, Tonopah and Round Mountain, experienced the same situation.

Which is why, in the final team totals, the Hornets, Muckers and Knights were not in contention. Beatty's totals were 18 points for the girls, 11 boys, while Tonopah had 15 points girls, 8 boys and Round Mountain's girls 22 points.
