Pop Warner

Pop Warner football is organizing for the 2008 fall season.

The dates are Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and April 23, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Worden's Farmers Insurance, 2210 E. Commerce Road (just off Highway 160 at Nevada State Bank).

Ages are 5 to 12 years old; players must bring their birth certificates to register.

The cost is $180, payable at the time of registration.

Roller hockey

The Goblins defeated the Thrashers 7-3, the Dragons edged Orange 9-8 and the Bruins stopped Chicken Wings 6-2 in Skate Zone Roller Hockey League matches this week.

Chris Moffat had four goals for the Goblins; Tyler Harris scored twice for the Thrashers; Chris Menges had seven goals in a losing cause for Orange and Aaron Fuentes had four goals for the Bruins.

Softball

The Crew won the women's title, Saitta-Trudeau grabbed the men's championship and the Ruff-Ryders claimed the co-ed championship in Pahrump Valley Softball Association Ice Breaker tournaments contested recently at Petrack Park.

The PVSA is seeking people who can keep score. Adults are preferred, but anyone who is interested will be trained. Contact Ken Causey at 727-6413 for information.

All-America

Ashley Gayle, a 6-foot-4 center from Nevada Class 4-A champion Las Vegas Bishop Gorman, was named to the fourth team on the PARADE Magazine All-America girls' basketball team,

The magazine will name its full All-America team in its Sunday edition.

Hall of Fame

Nominations are now being accepted for the Pahrump Valley High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

Membership forms are available in the PVHS athletics office; the deadline for submission is May 27.

The form is divided into various segments:

Name of Nominee ... His or her years at PVHS ... Sports and activities the nominee participated in;

Area of participation:

-- Athletics (must have graduated before 2002-2003 school year);

-- PVHS athletics contributor (booster, sponsor, other actions which warrant consideration);

-- School district employee (administrators, teachers, coaches).

The nomination sheet is to be signed and the date of nomination listed.
