Come from behind to win -- how cool was that Tuesday, Pahrump Valley fans?

The Trojans swept Southern Nevada Class 3-A baseball and fast-pitch softball doubleheaders from visiting Boulder City to stay in contention for regular-season titles and solid seeds for the regional tournaments in May.

The Trojans' baseball team, playing its first game for interim coach Rich Lauver, rallied from a 9-5 deficit in the bottom of the seventh, getting a two-run single from Tyler Raymer to win 10-9 and give freshman lefthander Sam Morrow the win. Clayton Leseberg slugged a RBI double to bring the Trojans to within a run of the Eagles. Earlier, Justin Kelley slashed a two-run double to keep the Trojans in contention.

In the nightcap, the Trojans were down 4-1 in the third. Mike Gonzalez slugged a leadoff homer and Leseberg got a two-run double to tie it in that inning.

The Trojans toughed it out down the stretch, getting a 6-4 victory when Daniel Miller drilled a two-out, two-run homer to right field in the sixth. Gonzalez, pitching in relief, retired the final 14 Eagles to get the win.

The sweep moved the Trojans to 3-1 in the league (14-6 in all games), just percentage points behind idle Las Vegas Faith Lutheran (2-0).

Pahrump Valley's fast-pitch softball team trailed 4-1 going into the sixth. Coach Preston Dockter's team put 10 consecutive batters on base, with Emily Poertner's single driving in the go-ahead run midway through that rally. Chelsea Cochrell's bases-loaded triple put the game beyond reach.

The Trojans didn't need any comeback magic in the nightcap, scoring four runs in the first and sixth innings, en route to an 11-3 triumph. Pahrump Valley moved into a first-place tie with Faith Lutheran at 4-0 as Ashleah Barney pitched a six-hitter and slugged her first career home run in the sixth. Barney was the winning pitcher in relief in the opener.

Pahrump Valley travels to Mesquite Virgin Valley today, with the baseball Trojans taking on a Bulldog team that is 3-3 in the league after a 6-1, 6-3 sweep of Overton Moapa Valley Tuesday. The Bulldogs are 15-6 in all games.

Virgin Valley's girls edged Moapa Valley 3-2 Tuesday, with the second game of that league doubleheader not reported.

Pahrump Valley plays at Faith Lutheran in league doubleheaders Tuesday.
