Brutal sexual assault

Joseph Hallenbach, 31, was arrested and booked on a number of charges relating to an alleged brutal sexual assault on a victim whose name is being withheld.

According to a Nye County Sheriff's Office press release, Dep. John Kakavulias was dispatched to a local residence for a possible sexual assault Saturday, April 5.

The female victim reportedly summarized the following events to the deputy:

She reportedly took the child she had with Hallenbach to his residence.

After she left, she received a phone call about an item still in the vehicle.

Upon returning to Hallenbach's residence, he asked her if she wanted to talk, but while talking on the front porch, an argument about a third party ensued.

According to the press release, the victim said Hallenbach grabbed her by her wrists and forcefully dragged her inside the residence.

While dragging her, he allegedly struck the victim on the mouth, causing a small cut.

The victim was allegedly dragged into the bathroom by Hallenbach where he "ripped her clothes off" and threatened her, "including killing her and making it look like a suicide," the press release stated.

After ripping her clothes off, Hallenbach allegedly sexually assaulted her.

The victim remained at the residence, reportedly because she feared for the safety of her children's lives, and allegedly endured a second sexual assault.

After the second assault, Hallenbach reportedly fell asleep and the victim and her children fled.

Hallenbach was booked on two charges of sexual assault, first-degree kidnapping, false imprisonment, burglary and domestic battery.

His bail was set at $309,500.
