Hall of Fame Nominations are now being accepted for the Pahrump Valley High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Membership forms are available in the PVHS athletics office; the deadline for submission is May 27. Forms can be mailed or delivered personally to: PVHS Athletic Office, Hall of Fame Nomination, 501 E. Calvada Blvd., Pahrump, NV 89048 The form is divided into various segments: Name of Nominee ... His or her years at PVHS ... Sports and activities the nominee participated in; Area of participation: -- Athletics (must have graduated before 2002-2003 school year); -- PVHS athletics contributor (booster, sponsor, other actions which warrant consideration); -- School district employee (administrators, teachers, coaches). The nomination sheet is to be signed and the date of nomination listed. For other information, contact the athletics department at 727-7908. Pop Warner Pop Warner football is organizing for the 2008 fall season. The dates are April 19, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and April 23, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Worden's Farmers Insurance, 2210 E. Commerce Road (just off Highway 160 at Nevada State Bank). Ages are 5 to 12-years-old; players must bring their birth certificates to register. The cost is $160, payable at the time of registration. Softball The Pahrump Valley Softball Association is seeking people who can keep score. Adults are preferred, but anyone who is interested will be trained. Sertoma tilt The Sparks Sertoma Club announced that its 27th annual for-charity Football Classic will be played June 20 at Mackay Stadium, on the University of Nevada campus in Reno. Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m. Two teams, the Silver and Blue and comprised of 50 players each, will compete; the athletes will be drawn from 33 Class A, 2-A and 3-A teams in Nevada, Lake Tahoe and Truckee, Calif. Cody Neville of Yerington and Dan Avansino of Reno will be the head coaches. Rosters will be announced. |
