Drought tolerant plant sale

The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners will hold their sixth annual plant sale on April 12.

One-gallon trees and shrubs from the Nevada Division of Forestry Plant Material Center will be available from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pre-orders are required and will be taken until noon on April 9 at the Cooperative Extension office located at 1651 E. Calvada Blvd.

A minimum purchase of five plants at $3.50 each is required.

Plants available this delivery are: Apache plume, caragana, desert olive, Euonymus, feathery cassia, globe mallow, honeysuckle, lilac, myrtle, nanking cherry, oleander, quailbush, skunkbush sumac, woods rose, yellow bird of paradise, cat claw Acacia, chaste tree, Mexican palo verde, shoestring Acacia, sweet Acacia, wash willow, Arizona ash, Austrian pine, black locust, elderica (Mondel) pine, eucalyptus, Fremont cottonwood, honey locust, hybrid poplar, hybrid column poplar, Italian cypress, mimosa, she-oak, Siberian crabapple, Simon poplar and true Chinese elm.

Order forms, planting guides and fact sheets on soil preparation and irrigation are available at the Cooperative Extension office Monday through Friday.

Master Gardeners will be on hand April 12 to answer questions and assist in your selections.
