Pahrump Valley's girls' soccer team is at home Saturday against Southern Nevada Class 3-A League opponent Overton Moapa Valley, with the kickoff at noon.

That game is the only action in Pahrump this weekend.

The football team is idle until Oct. 5, when the Trojans host defending Nevada Class 3-A state champion Mesquite Virgin Valley. It will be Hall of Fame Night at PVHS, with 16 people to be inducted in halftime ceremonies. (See related story this page).

The PVHS volleyball team played at Lake Mead Christian Academy Thursday, but will not return to action until Tuesday, when the Amy Hart-coached girls take on visiting Overton Moapa Valley in a league match.

Pahrump Valley is 9-9 in all matches, 0-1 in the league after bowing 3-1 to defending league and regional champion Faith Lutheran, in Las Vegas Tuesday.

The Lady Trojans won the first game 25-13 and maintained that level of play in the second game with the score tied at 7-7.

The Crusaders got a lucky roll with a serve into the net and followed with three kills to open an 11-7 lead. The Crusaders earned a 25-16 win.

The crucial third game stayed close with the score tied at 14-14. The Crusaders pulled away in the end for a 25-16 victory. The match was closed out in four games following a 25-12 victory for the Crusaders.

The Lady Trojans were led with the front line play of Kristi Daffer, Taylor Lau and Shayna Smith, who kept the Trojans competitive by blocking many of the Crusader kill attempts.

The cross country team is at the Angel Park Invitational Saturday, with the meet to start at 8 a.m.

The girls' golf team played at Boulder City Thursday and will conclude the league season Thursday at Mesquite.

In soccer, the boys' team, which fell to 7-1 in all matches and 4-1 in the league with a 4-0 loss to homestanding Faith Lutheran Tuesday, will play at Moapa Valley Saturday (noon), then is idle until Oct. 6, when the Trojans play at Ely White Pine (noon).

The girls' team, with Brittany Orr scoring the goal, battled favored Faith Lutheran to a 1-1 tie. The Lady Trojans, who got a forfeit win from White Pine because the Bobcats used an ineligible player in a 4-4 tie Saturday, are 3-0-2 in the Southern league and 6-0-2 in all games.

The girls' next home game is Oct. 9, against Boulder City.
