UNLV-Nevada to meet for 33rd time in footballPVT
The intrastate college football showdown between UNLV and Nevada will be played Saturday, starting at 1:05 p.m. in Mackay Stadium, on the Reno campus. No television station is scheduled to carry the game, which can be seen live streaming on www.nevadawolfpack.com. UNLV, 2-2, 1-0 in the Mountain West Conference, and Nevada, 1-2, 0-0 in the Western Athletic Conference, are playing each other for the 33rd time in a series the Wolf Pack leads 17-15. Nevada won 31-3 in Las Vegas last season. The game is played for the Fremont Cannon. Chris Ault, the UNR coach, is 9-7 lifetime against the Rebels. Mike Sanford is 0-2 against the Wolf Pack. In last year's game, freshman running back Brandon Fragger rushed for 146 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries for Nevada. Fraggar (55 carries, 270 yards) is back, as is Luke Lippincott (94-456), but quarterback Jeff Rowe graduated, leaving the job of running Nevada's pistol offense to Nick Graziano, who threw for 236 yards and five touchdowns in a 52-17 rout of Nicholls State (Louisiana) Sept. 15. UNLV is coming off a 27-0 rout of long-time nemesis Utah. |
