Elected officials and citizens alike may benefit from a workshop presented by Nevada Deputy Attorney General George Taylor at Great Basin College.

The free workshop will be held Tuesday, Oct. 2, from 2 to 4 p.m. at GBC campuses and centers in Battle Mountain, Elko, Ely, Pahrump and Winnemucca.

"Open Meeting Law Defined" will be a discussion of the state law and its requirements of public bodies. The workshop will provide participants with a clear view of open meeting law requirements, including noticing of meetings, requirements for the conduct of those meetings and penalties for non-compliance with the open meeting law.

The workshop is free.

Taylor will conduct the meeting using GBC's state-of-the-art interactive video technology from the High Tech Center, Room 121, on the GBC Elko Campus and the Pahrump Valley Campus on Calvada Boulevard, Room 119.

For further information, contact the office of GBC's vice president of student services at 775-753-2184.
