Desert View Regional Medical Center issued and alert to the community stating that the hospital would not contact residents on an individual basis if there is a flu, pneumonia or any other type of epidemic. The community would be notified through the media.

Apparently there is an individual calling members of the community and claiming to be a physician at Desert View Regional Medical Center, then and telling residents there is a flu or pneumonia epidemic and requesting personal information.

If residents receive a call from someone identifying himself or herself as a physician with the hospital and requesting personal information, those persons are asked to contact the Nye County Sheriff Office immediately.
