Clarke splits football games Rosemary Clarke Middle School's football teams, which split a doubleheader at Las Vegas Faith Lutheran Friday, goes to Overton Moapa Valley Saturday for another twin bill, starting at 5 p.m. At Faith Lutheran, the seventh grade (B-team) won 30-0, but the eighth grade (A-team) lost 20-18, when the homestanding Crusaders scored with just over a minute left. Nathaniel Jacobi scored on a 65-yard run and finished with 152 yards rushing for the A-Team, 0-3 this fall. The Sharks finished with 335 yards rushing. Weather stops Warner football Because of field conditions caused by heavy rain last weekend, Pop Warner football games involving Pahrump Valley's three teams were canceled. The Pahrump teams play on the Pahrump Valley High School field Saturday, with a tripleheader starting at 10 a.m. Lions golf this weekend The Pahrump Valley Lions Club will host its fifth annual golf tournament Friday and Saturday Mountain Falls. The format is four-person scramble. All proceeds will benefit the Pahrump Valley Lions Club scholarship and sight conservation activities. For information or to register, contact the Pahrump Valley Lions Club at 727-9016. The tournament on Friday has a shotgun start at 7 p.m. on the back nine. The entry fee is $45 per person for the 9-hole round, with a shared cart and a sleeve of three glow golf balls. The Saturday schedule includes an 18-hole round, with the cost $75 per player; a shotgun start is at 9 a.m. A two-day fee is $95 per player. Hole sponsorships are available at $100 per hole, for both Friday and Saturday rounds. Saitta-Trudeau will provide a vehicle for any golfer who scores a hole-in-one each day. There will be long-drive and closest-to-the-pin contests. Elks soccer shoot delayed Because of the rain Friday, the Elks Soccer Shoot, slated for Saturday at Honeysuckle Park, was postponed. The new date is Oct. 13, starting at 10 a.m. The competition is open to boys and girls 13 years old and under. The age cutoff date is Aug. 1. Contact Dennis London at 751-2796 for more information. Sr. Olympics in November The third annual Pahrump Senior Olympics will be Nov. 1-4. Events include basketball, billiards, bowling, cycling, dance, power lift/fitness/weight training, 9-hole golf, 18-hole golf, golf skills, horseshoe pitching, single-action pistol shooting, tennis, 5-K run, sudoku, track and field, walk, and football punt, pass & kick. Eligibility is in two age groups: 45-49 for Masters and 50 and over for the Senior Division. Contestants can choose to participate in as many of the events as they wish. Little League meetings set The Pahrump Little League will hold its first general meeting for the 2008 season Thursday in its offices at Honeysuckle Park, starting at 7 p.m. This is an informational meeting; anyone intererested in becoming a board member should attend this meeting that is open to the public. On Oct. 4, general elections for all PLL board positions will be held at Honeysuckle Park, starting at 7 p.m. A membership fee is required to be paid by any voting member. Which means attendees should have a membership card prior to the election. There is no exception to the rule. |
