William Barnak William "Barney" Barnak, 79, passed away Sept. 22, 2007 at Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas. Barney was born in Nanticoke, Pa. and graduated from Wilsonboro High School. In 1946, at the age of 18, he joined the Army and served three tours of duty in Japan, Korea and Vietnam before retiring at Fort Lewis, Wash. in 1967. He went on to another career as a longshoremen and retired as a Checker from local 52, Seattle in 1992. Barney and his wife, Karen, moved to a small farm in Minn. in 1995. They raised emus, and operated a meat market. He still found time for his woodworking and old tractor restoration. In 2000, they discovered Pahrump and moved from Minn. to make Nevada their permanent home. Barney was very outgoing and made lifelong friends wherever he lived. He even learned to play bingo after years of resistance and made many friends in the bingo halls. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion. Barney is survived by his wife, Karen; sons Mark, Scott, Michael, Gary and Gene; daughters Pamela and Joanne, their families and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Anita. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Sept. 28 at the Lee Funeral Home Chapel. (09/22/07) Ann Marie Davis Ann Marie Telson Davis, 86, died Sept. 18, 2007 in Las Vegas. She was born June 22, 1919 in Garfield, N.J. to Francis and John Telson. Ann grew up in Garfield, N.J. and Brooklyn, N.Y. She met her first husband, Olen Hibbard Gaw, in New Jersey where he was stationed at Fort Mamouth during the start of World War II. After the war, they settled in Southern Calif. where they raised their family. They later divorced. In 1970, Ann married Harry Lanier Davis. They lived in California until 1984, when they retired and moved to Pahrump. Harry and Ann were avid square dancers. Ann loved to dance, cook and read. Those who survived her include her husband, Harry; one son Donald (Deborah) Gaw of Temecula, Calif.; two daughters, Sylvia Ruth (Buddy) Powers of Independence, Mo., and Sandra Lee Marshall of Logandale, Nev.; 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Harry wishes to express his gratitude to the staff at Desert View Regional Medical Center for the kind, loving care which they gave to his beloved wife. Services were held at 11 a.m., Sept. 22 under the direction of Lee Funeral Home. (09/18/07) ![]() Mary Parks Mary Parks, 89, passed away Sept. 23, 2007. She was born in December of 1917 in Sierra Madre, Calif.; where services were held at the Cathedral of Roses. Mary lived in Pahrump from 1985 until 2006, when she moved to Las Vegas to be with her daughter and grandchildren. She was a long time member of Pahrump Community Church and she was involved with numerous activities and projects at Preferred RV Park. She is survived by daughter Marsha of Las Vegas, grandchildren Bruce and Joanna and great-grandchildren Dylan and Kaylei of Las Vegas; granddaughters Mille and Jen of Colorado; grandchildren Cam and Kim and great-granddaughter Leah of Boston; daughter-in-law Diana Ackland and granddaughters Julia and Claire of California and Robert and Lisa Holleman.
