Fred who? Rudy runs against Hillary
Rudy Giuliani has decided the way to run against Fred Thompson is to run against Hillary Clinton.

Law and order -- whatever that is
Washington -- Michael Mukasey, the retired judge nominated to be attorney general, is called a "law and order" conservative. That description is, however, not especially informative now that the Bush administration's sweeping claims of presidential powers have unsettled some understandings of what the law is. The following questions, if asked at Mukasey's Senate confirmation hearings, might reveal whether he considers some of these claims extravagant.


Fall 'foseball' games always full of blind 'umperees'
As the tide of the weather changes, you'd think I could keep my sports straight. Usually, come September, my children are involved in football. We spend the week on the sidelines cheering during city recreation games. Then we enjoy Friday night football at the high school. Sunday afternoons, the kids play tag football in the cul-de-sac while we listen in on the pro games.
