DEAN WINS LAKE MEAD TITLE Trojans to run at LaughlinPVT
Pahrump Valley's cross country team will compete Saturday in the Laughlin Invitational at Mountain View Park, the site for the Southern Nevada regionals next month. Saturday's varsity races start at 8:30 a.m. on the 3.1-mile course. The Trojans competed last Saturday in the Lake Mead Invitational, contested at Hemenway Park in Boulder City, where Pahrump Valley's McKenzie Dean emerged the winner in the 2.75-mile Class 4-A varsity race. Dean's time was 18 minutes, 48 seconds, as she prevailed by just one second over Tiffany Hutton of Las Vegas Cimarron-Memorial. Third in 19:04 was Leah Ballard of Clark. Completing the top five were Elaina Viassopoulos of Shadow Ridge (20:00) and Adrielle Wechsler of Centennial (20:06). In the 3-A varsity girls race, Pahrump Valley's Stephanie Andros was third in 22:52. Boulder City's JoJo Stanton was first in 20:35, and teammate Sara Richner was second in 21:10. Ashlee Wolf of PVHS was seventh in 25:41, with teammates Nicole Dillon 10th (26:54) and Pam Hunter 11th (36:07). In team scoring, Mesquite Virgin Valley had 37 points, with Boulder City at 39 and Pahrump Valley 44. In the boys' 3-A varsity race, Michael Kelso of Boulder City was first in 16:44, with teammate Matt Lundgren second in 16:54. Pahrump Valley's James Lucas was seventh in 18:16, with David Jacobi eighth in 18:39 and Ryan Howard ninth in 18:49. Alex Anderson, Connor Chenevert, and Dylan Dance also ran for the Trojans, who finished with 50 points. Boulder City was first with 31; Moapa Valley had 69 and Virgin Valley 92. Lund and Ely White Pine had no team scores. |
