The letter purporting to be from Sheriff's Office Capt. William Becht in last Friday's issue was apparently a deliberate effort to embarrass Becht. The captain did not write the letter, nor did it express his political opinions.

The PVT regrets the failure of its confirmation policy and apologizes for any embarrassment to Becht and the Nye County Sheriff's Office. Letters to the editor will not be published without positive confirmation of authorship.

The estimated turnout for Hillary Clinton's appearance at Skate Zone mentioned in a story on page A4 of the Sept. 12 Pahrump Valley Times was way low. Organizers sold 1,200 tickets to see Clinton, while many more persons waited outside.
