TIMES RATINGS
Prep football Only three weeks are gone in the Nevada high school football season, but already, the Pahrump Valley Times ratings have gone through a hectic transition. There have been some heavy-duty changes. For instance: In Class 3-A, Fernley, because of its 33-6 victory against Las Vegas Faith Lutheran, jumped from No. 5 to No. 1. Faith dropped to No. 6. In between are defending state champion and previous No. 1 Mesquite Virgin Valley, Overton Moapa Valley, Dayton, and Spring Creek, which is in Pahrump today to battle the Trojans in a non-league game. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. In Class A, Las Vegas Mountain View Christian and Pahranagat Valley Alamo remained 1-2, but Tonopah, because of its 14-8 conquest of Carlin, jumped from fifth to third. Wells, not ranked last week, is at No. 4. Appropriately, the Muckers and Leopards collide tonight in Tonopah. Coleville, Calif.; Carlin, Virginia City, and Laughlin complete the top eight. Carlin plays at Mountain View Christian at 1 p.m. Saturday in a collision of ranked teams. Yerington Rite of Passage, the 2006 Nevada state champion, is No. 1 in Class 2-A, but city rival Yerington High have moved into the ratings for the first time at No. 6. Yerington faces a tough test Saturday at No. 2 Battle Mountain. In Class 4-A, Reno McQueen is still the leader, but making a big jump to No. 2 was Las Vegas Bishop Gorman, previously ranked No. 7. The Gaels have pulled off two impressive wins in non Sunset Region games. Dropping out of the ratings was Las Vegas, which fell to 1-2 in non-Sunrise games. No. 6 Spring Valley is at No. 7 Palo Verde tonight. In a key matchup tonight, No. 5 Galena plays at No. 4 Sparks Reed. The ratings The Pahrump Valley Times Nevada High School football ratings.
