Overton wildlife area to re-open

SPECIAL TO THE PVT

Following a long week of cattle wrangling, the Nevada Department of Wildlife will reopen the Overton Wildlife Management Area to hunting and other normal activities Saturday.

When Overton reopens Saturday, hunting activities will be managed as they would on any other mid-season hunt day. Future openers will have draws by reservation as usual.

The agency closed the area in late August due to public safety concerns stemming from the presence of wild livestock that had trespassed on the area and had demonstrated aggression toward humans.

With opening weekend of the 2007 dove season in the past, hunters wanting to pursue doves at Overton will not have to draw for reservations.
