Sha Na Na melanoma realizes nearly $17,000
The Amanda Faye Brown Melanoma Education Foundation, Nevada Chapter, raised $16,690 from the benefit concert held Aug. 27 at the Pahrump Nugget Event Center. These funds will be used to educate Nevada teachers and students toward melanoma and skin cancer awareness.

Super-majority sought for water issue votes
TONOPAH -- Nye County Commissioner Joni Eastley said Tuesday she wants another bill introduced in the 2009 state legislature to make sure both the new Nye County Water Board and Nye County commissioners need a super-majority vote to approve the transfer of water from one area of the county to another.

TONOPAH -- A monster $919,535.28 hospital bill was presented to Nye County by representatives of Nye Regional Medical Center for uncompensated indigent care dating back to 2004.
