Daughters of Mary fish fry

We will be having a fish fry for Sept. 7, Oct. 5 and Nov. 2. There won't be one in Dec., but will resume Jan. 4, 2008.

The fish fry dinners are the first Friday of the month, at the Our Lady of the Valley church hall, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on 781 E. Gamebird Road.

We serve fried or baked fish, FF's, cole slaw also fish tacos, clam chowder, homemade desserts and beverages.

Dances of universal peace

Dancing the path to peace honors the sacred traditions of the world through song and dance. The public is invited to attend the event at 2 p.m., Sept. 8, at Haven Selah, 1680 N. Blagg Road.

Phrases and movements are simple to learn. There will be a vegetarian potluck after the dance and a walking of the labyrinth. Drumming will follow.

Genealogical Society

The Genealogical Society will meet Sept. 6 at 6:30 p.m. in the multi-purpose room at LDS Church located at Wilsonand West Streets.

The speaker will be Stefani Evans, a Certified Geneaologist and nationally know presenter, and the subject will be selecting a geneaologist to do work for you.

The talk will begin at 7 p.m.

Beta Sigma Phi meeting

Laureate Omicron Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi's meeting will begin at 1:00 p.m. Mon., Sept. 10 in the home of Dina Williamson-Erdag who will also present the chapter's cultural program.

Computer users meet

The Pahrump Computer User Group will meet at 1 p.m. Sept. 10 at the Pahrump Community Library meeting room.

The program this month will include a presentation on how to create your own personal Internet site and a demonstration on how to make multimedia videos and movies and burn them onto a DVD.

Cinderella Pageant workshops

Free modeling workshops will be offered from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 6 and Sept. 13, at the Bob Rudd Community Center in Room B.

The Nye County Cinderella Pageant is Sept. 21, and is open to all ages 0 - 26 years for girls and 0 to 6 years for boys.

Homeschool bowling league

The Pahrump Homeschool Bowling League is taking sign ups for the Fall Bowling Season. The league is open to all homeschooled children ages 3-17 with parental consent.

The league meets Friday mornings at 9 a.m. at the Pahrump Nugget Bowling Center to bowl 2 games.

The Fall Season will begin Sept. 14 and run 10 consecutive weeks. The cost for the season is $65 per bowler which covers 10 weeks of bowling, shoe rentals, and a pizza party and awards ceremony on the last day of the season. All bowlers will receive a trophy. Holiday sale

Pahrump Valley United Methodist Church will have an "all holiday" sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sept 22 in the R. C. Building.

The sale will be for holiday decorations, gifts, knic-knacs, greeting cards, etc.

Blood drive

Pahrump Valley Cruisers, hot rods and big hearts...there will be a United Blood Services blood drive, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Fri. Sept. 7, and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Bob Rudd Community Center.

All donors will receive a voucher for two tickets to Matsuri at the Sahara Hotel and Casino.

PV Garden Club

The Pahrump Valley Garden Club will welcome horticulturist, author and columnist, Linn Mills, as a guest speaker at 8 a.m. on Sept. 8.

The meeting will be held in the 4-H building at the UNR Cooperative Education Center at the corner of Dandelion and Calvada. Meetings are open to the public.

Benefit Poker Run

A poker run to benefit Alaska Eddie and Janice will be Sept. 8.

The run will help cover expenses from a motorcycle accident.

The $25 fee covers breakfast at the Short Branch Saloon, and dinner and band at the Eagle's Nest.

High hand wins a slot machine and low hand is to be determined. All vehicles welcome.

Registration at the Short Branch in Crystal is from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Voces Latinas

The Pahrump Arts Council presents Voces Latinas, a showcase of artwork by fifteen artists representing the diverse range of creative voices within the Latino community.

The exhibit is curated by the Nevada Museum of Art and is part of the Nevada Arts Council Nevada Touring Initiative Program.

The exhibit may be seen at the Nye County courthouse 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily, Mon. - Fri., until Sept. 19.

Rosemary Clarke open house

Parents and students are invited to atten an open house at Rosemary Clarke Middle School at 6 p.m. Wed., Sept. 5. The event will begin in the gymnasium with a short meeting and then dismiss parents to follow their student's day on a mini-schedule. Each class will be approximately seven minutes long with a five minute passing period.

Fiber Arts 2008

Get that quilt or needlework project going now.

Plans for the annual Fiber Arts Show are under way, with a spectacular weekend event planned for mid-February 2008.
