Class 4-A teams in regionals at Vegas, Reno

The Sunset Region Class 4-A volleyball tournament got underway Tuesday, with the quarter-finals at Silverado High School, where today, the first round of the Sunrise Regionals will be played.

In the Sunset regionals Tuesday were Bishop Gorman, Palo Verde, Sierra Vista, Shadow Ridge, Durango, Cimarron-Memorial, Spring Valley and Centennial.

The semifinals are Thursday, with matches at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. The championship match is at 1 p.m. Friday.

In the Sunrise pairings today, it will be Green Valley vs. Chaparral, 3 p.m.; Coronado vs. Rancho, 4:30 p.m.; Silverado vs. Canyon Springs, 6 p.m. and Basic vs. Las Vegas, 7:30 p.m.

The semifinals are Thursday, with the title match at 7 p.m. Friday.

The top teams in the Northern 4-A are Reno McQueen, Reno Bishop Manogue, Reno Galena, Churchill County Fallon, Douglas Minden, Reno, Reno Damonte Ranch and Carson.

The regionals are being played at Galena, with first-round matches Friday: McQueen, 12-0, vs. Carson, 9-5; Galena, 8-4, vs. Reno, 12-2; Bishop Manogue, 9-3, vs. DaMonte Ranch, 10-4 and Fallon, 7-5, vs. Douglas, 13-1.

The semifinals and finals are Saturday.
