Dean goes after third title, starting at Laughlin today

McKenzie Dean of Pahrump Valley High School starts her quest for a third straight Nevada Class 3-A cross country title today, in the Southern Regionals at Laughlin.

Dean, a junior, will compete in the 3.1-mile run at Mountain View Park, starting at 10:35 a.m. The state championship event is Nov. 3 at Rancho San Rafael Park in Reno.

The Trojans' boys team will run at 11:50 a.m. today.

Andy Andersen is the Pahrump Valley coach. All of his team members have been improving their times all season, in preparation for the meet today and Nov. 3.

Also competing will be Class 2-A teams and individuals, at 10 a.m. (girls) and 11:15 a.m. (boys).
