Rachel hits 299

John Rachel, bowling in the Strike Zone League at the Pahrump Nugget, had a 299 game and a 789 series last week. The 299 game was 75 pins above his average.

Tournaments

The Pahrump Valley Tournament Bowling Club will hold a 9-pin no-tap singles event Saturday at the Nugget.

Squad times are 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. for the tournament, open to members only and to be contested with handicap and by division.

Dr. Michael Reiner/Family Physicians of Southern Nevada will be the sponsor.

Entry forms are available on line at www.pahrumpbowlers.com, or at the Nugget and Terry Hand Realty.

The next Pahrump Valley 500 Club tournament will be Nov. 10 and will be a Scotch doubles event. Entry forms will be available next week.

In a tournament held Oct. 13, Terry Boston had 835 to win the club title. Bob McPhillips had 884 to lead the groupies.

The club donated its share of a 50-50 drawing to Hospice, in memory of Belva Sanders. Don Woods, the winner, also donated his share to Hospice.

The bowler of the year (2006-2007) is Jan Johnston.

Officers were elected for 2007-2008. They are Beverly Dowell, president; Lee Hall, vice president; Jan Johnston, secretary-treasurer, and Jan Costa, sergeant at arms.

The directors are Barbara Blackburn, Mary Ann Suver, Dee Runau, Terry Boston, Barbara Woosley and Chellah Reynolds.
