Pahrump Valley's boys basketball team, a Nevada Class 3-A state semifinalist last season, is accelerating the pace in the 2007-2008 campaign.

The Trojans could play as many as 13 home games this season. Pahrump Valley, which lost 41-32 to Dayton in the Nevada Class 3-A semifinals at Henderson last February, are again coached by Lonnie Shereck.

The Trojans will play in their final Southern 3-A League campaign that includes home-and-home series against state champion Las Vegas Faith Lutheran, as well as Overton Moapa Valley, Mesquite Virgin Valley and Boulder City.

Pahrump Valley moves into the Sunset Region Southwest Division Class 4-A in the 2008-2009 season.

The Trojans open at home Nov. 27 against Nevada Class A state runnerup Lake Mead Christian Academy, which could have one of the best teams, regardless of class, in the Silver State this season.

Pahrump Valley is in the:

Lake Mead Christian Academy Invitational Nov. 29-30-Dec. 1;

The six-team Pahrump Valley Times Trojans Cage Classic Dec. 6-7-8 and

The Bishop, Calif., Invitational Dec.27-28-29.

In the Times tournament, incidentally, are Las Vegas Bishop Gorman JVs, Amargosa Valley Horizon Academy, Henderson International School, Beatty and Round Mountain.

The Trojans could play as many as 12 games in those tournaments.

Non-league games are also slated against Las Vegas Mountain View Christian; state 1-A champion Las Vegas Trinity Christian and home-and-home contests against Pahranagat Valley Alamo.

The 3-A regionals will be played Feb. 14 and 16 at Del Sol High School in Las Vegas. The state tournament will be held in Reno Feb. 22-23.
