After going several years with just one, at the most two, home matches in a season, the Pahrump Valley High School wrestling team will compete on its own mats four times, including the Southern Nevada Class 3-A regionals Feb. 2, in the 2007-2008 season.

Pahrump Valley, coached by Craig Rieger, was second in the state tournament last season, after sweeping league regular-season and regional championships for the third straight year.

State champions Elias Armendariz and James Chapman are among the returnees for the Trojans, who are in their final season in 3-A. Next year, the Trojans will be competing in the Sunset Region Southwest District in Class 4-A.

The home matches are Dec. 19, against league rivals to be named; Jan. 23, the Nye County championships; Jan. 30, vs. 3-A rivals to be announced, and Feb. 2, the regionals. The state tournament is Feb. 8-9 at a southern Nevada site to be announced.

The Trojans open the season Nov. 28 at the River Valley (Ariz.) Invitational. The Boulder City Duals are Dec. 1, with the Sierra Vista Invitational Dec. 7-8.

League matches will be contested Dec. 12, at Boulder City, and Jan. 9, at Las Vegas Faith Lutheran.

The Trojans will compete at the Basic Duals in Henderson Dec. 28; at the Taggart Duals at Overton Moapa Valley Jan. 5; at the Spring Creek Kiwanis Invitational Jan. 11-12 and at the Mohave Invitational at Bullhead City, Ariz., Jan. 18-19.

Pahrump Valley will not return to St. George, Utah, for the Desert Storm tournament this season.
