Pahrump Valley's volleyball team, with a shot at the Southern Nevada Class 3-A playoffs still viable, travel to Boulder City Thursday for its next-to-last league match.

The regular season ends Monday, with the Lady Trojans going to Overton Moapa Valley. The regionals are Nov. 2 at Boulder City, with the top four teams in the regular season qualifying for the semifinals.

PVHS is 1-5 in the league; a sweep against the Eagles and Pirates would give the Trojans a No. 4 seed.

Pahrump Valley traveled to San Diego for the Granite Hills Invitational last weekend, winning three of seven matches and finishing second in the Bronze Division. The Gold Division produced the overall champion, with Silver the first consolation round.

Coach Amy Hart's team lost 25-21, 25-13 to Vista, Calif., Tri-City; 25-15, 25-20 to San Diego CCA, and 25-20, 25-13 to San Diego Southwest in pool matches Friday.

Pahrump Valley defeated San Diego Serra 25-20, 25-12; Yucca Valley 25-18, 25-22, and Coronado, Calif., 25-15, 17-25, 15-8 to advance to the Bronze Division finals, where the Trojans lost 25-23, 22-25, 15-12 to Spring Valley (Calif.) Steele Valley.

"The second day was fantastic," said Hart. "The girls played extremely well. They had a tremendous turn-around on Saturday and really pulled together. What a great experience for the girls!"

Pahrump Valley is 0-1 against Boulder City, losing three close games on the Trojans' court earlier this month. The Trojans are 0-1 vs. Moapa Valley, dropping a 3-2 decision on the PVHS court a couple weeks ago.

Defending league and regional champion Las Vegas Faith Lutheran will be the top seed in the Southern 3-A regionals.

Faith Lutheran, which lost to Yerington in the state finals last season, moved to 7-0 in league play after Friday's 3-1 win over Boulder City.

Faith won 25-20, 25-15 before Boulder came back to prevail 27-25 in the third game. The Crusaders clinched the match with a 28-26 victory in the fourth game.
