Sr. Olympics in November The third annual Pahrump Senior Olympics will be Nov. 1-4. Events include basketball, billiards, bowling, cycling, dance, power lift/fitness/weight training, 9-hole golf, 18-hole golf, golf skills, horseshoe pitching, single-action pistol shooting, tennis, 5-K run, sudoku, track and field, walk and football punt, pass and kick. Eligibility is in two age groups: 45-49 for Masters and 50 and over for the Senior Division. Contestants can choose to participate in as many of the events as they wish. At the end of the four days of competition, there is a dinner and awards ceremony. Donations, either in money or gifts, are being sought for gift bags to be presented at the dinner. NIAA board sets meeting The Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association will meet Nov. 29-30 in Las Vegas, at a site to be announced. Go to the Web site, www.niaa.com, to obtain a copy of the fall meeting minutes and the winter meeting agenda. Tennis, anyone? Cj Azaria wants to know if anyone in Pahrump is interested in forming a tennis organization. "We want people of all ages, from toddlers to seniors to sign up, if they are interested in tennis," said Azaria. "There are only two courts that we know of in Pahrump (at Petrack Park), so if we show there is enough interest, more courts will be built." Contact Azaria at 751-6130 or at cjaz@usa.com. Rogers scores ace at 'Creek Karen Rogers used a driver on the 103-yard, par 3 11th hole to score a hole-in-one at Willow Creek Golf Course Monday. Bob Rogers and Gordy and Joyce Call were the witnesses for the ace. |
