Home Depot breaks ground this morningPVT
The groundbreaking for Pahrump's Home Depot is scheduled at 8 a.m. today. The company presented plans in January for a 106,278 square-foot store on 19.7 acres of land on the east side of Highway 160 just north of Basin Avenue. A 34,760-square-foot garden center is also going to be built. Nye County commissioners will attend the ceremony before their Pahrump meeting begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Bob Ruud Community Center across the street. Pahrump town board members will also attend, according to Paula Elefante, executive director of EDEN Inc. of Nevada, an economic development authority. Pahrump Building and Safety Senior Inspector Brent Steed said he expects the contractor to take out a building permit this week. The mechanical, plumbing and electrical fees have already been paid, Steed said. Sherry Caraway, a spokeswoman for Home Depot, said two representatives of the company will also attend. Austin Bettar, vice-president of leasing for the Merrill Group, said his company is building a shopping center on the south side of the Home Depot that will likely house retail and office tenants. The company also expects to build four buildings in front of the Home Depot on Highway 160, which are also expected to offer more retail and office space, though Bettar said he has had promising discussions with representatives of a national restaurant chain. |
