PLL adds age-group softballPVT
The Pahrump Little League organization has added a fast-pitch softball program for girls 5 to 18 years old, starting in 2008. The PLL made the announcement Wednesday, after a series of organizational meetings at Honeysuckle Park. The age groups for softball will be 5-6 year olds, T-Ball; 7-8, Minor Machine Pitch Division and 9-12, Minor-Major Divisions. Depending on the number of players registered, the Juniors will have 13- and 14-year-olds playing, or the Senior Division will include players 13-16. The Big League, for girls 17-18, will be available, if there is sufficient interest in that age group. Clinics for players and coaches in both baseball and softball will be held by the PLL. Registration will be held throughout January; costs will be announced soon. Check the Web site, www.eteamz.com/pll for further information. Lou Banuelos was elected president of the PLL, with Charlotte Uyeno named vice president for softball. Other officers are: Shelly Highland, treasurer, information; Shanda Roderick, secretary; Rosalee Clasen, safety; Rachael Walker, player agent, T-Ball and Minor Machine Pitch; Thom Walker, player agent, Junior and Senior baseball; John Walker, coaching coordinator; Larry Morales, assistant coaching coordinator, baseball and Joe Roderick, assistant coaching coordinator, softball. Positions still available are vice president of baseball, Minor-Major player agent and umpire in chief. Still open for softball are Minor/Major player agent, umpire in chief and equipment manager. The next PLL meeting will be Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. at Honeysuckle Park. |
