FISHING

EAGLE VALLEY

RESERVOIR

The Nevada Department of Wildlife recently planted a load of rainbow trout in this reservoir east of Pioche.

Anglers have been catching rainbow and tiger trout on PowerBait and worms. Some are putting a mini marshmallow above the worm. Nighttime temperatures have been cold.

ECHO CANYON

RESERVOIR

Bass fishing has slowed significantly during the past week or so. Fishing pressure has also dropped as most of the activity in the area is now hunting related.

That means the reservoir is wide open for anglers looking to get in a couple of more trips before ice up.

LAKE MEAD

Anglers have been reeling in a few stripers at locations throughout the Boulder Basin.

Things have been a little slower in the Overton Arm. Participants in a fishing event for youth found success near the tires at Hemenway and at Kingman Wash.

Fish have also been caught from Sand Island to Vegas Wash and along the beaches.

LAKE MOHAVE

Trout fishing has been good for some and slow for others at Willow Beach. Those who have been catching fish are using PowerBait, assorted flies, worms and even jigs.

Action for striped bass is still sluggish. Reports out of Cottonwood are a little better. Fishing remains fair to good with anglers catching fish round the clock.

Stillfishing and trolling have both been productive. Spinnerbaits have been pulling in largemouth bass.

Catfish have been biting on sardines, anchovies and stink baits.

WAYNE E. KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA

Even with duck season fully underway, anglers have been finding good success for rainbow trout. Some fish are reaching the 18- to 20-inch range.

Fast action for trout should continue into the fall, but bass activity is tapering off. Shore anglers are finding success with PowerBait and worms.

Boaters are pulling in fish while trolling small spinners and spoons.

URBAN PONDS

Trout stocking will probably begin in mid- to late November with fish coming from hatcheries in northern Nevada.

Catfish have been stocked for the last time this year. Anglers should find action heating up for bluegill and bass.
